ASTON, PENNSYLVANIA, USA – Custom engineered thermoplastics compounder TP Composites, Inc. is adding 2 new compounding extrusion lines at its facility in Aston PA. Dr. Cliff Watkins, Sales, Marketing & Technology Director said, “these 2 new lines, which we are targeting for start-up in May and August will help us get our lead-times reduced as well as complement our manufacturing capability in medical-grade and highly filled products.” According to Watkins TP Composites Inc. completed another record-breaking year in 2010, with sales revenue surpassing the former 2008 record by over 12%. Watkins said that the company added a compounding line in April 2010 to add capacity in its small lot manufacturing cell, which he went on to say was sold out by July.
Manufacturing Director Farokh Kheradi indicated that one of the lines will be delivered shortly and that the company has already begun demolition in the area where the new machine will be installed. Mr. Kheradi declined to provide specifics on the total number of extruders currently installed, but did indicate that one of the new lines on order is a twin screw machine from Coperion, the other is a single screw. Ron Taylor, CEO of the company quipped, that the second machine will be installed using a ‘very large shoe horn’ and went on to say that other announcements would be forthcoming concerning company growth and expansion plans. Mister Taylor, Kheradi and Watkins are co-owners of privately held TP Composites.
