TPC Completes Upgrade To Injection Molding Laboratory

ASTON, PENNSYLVANIA, USA – Custom engineered thermoplastics compounder TP Composites, Inc. announced recently that it has completed an expansion of its injection molding laboratory. The expansion and upgrade included the installation of a third injection press, construction of four new test specimen molds, installation of new high temperature mold heating equipment, new temperature controllers to a compression press and a new HVAC system for improved temperature and humidity control in the molding area. John Tillman, Manager, Quality Assurance indicated that the new 50 ton Engel Victory injection press has been outfitted with the latest technology to enhance the company's molding capability for high temperature resins like PPSU and PEEK / TPI blends. "The new press and new mold heating system have made a significant difference in the data we now collect", said Tillman.

The molding laboratory supports the company's ISO 17025-2005 accredited testing laboratory. "The improvements we made to the Carver compression press are improving the quality of the thin films we produce on products destined for medical end-uses, allowing the quality assurance team to perform better inspections" according to Tillman. "As an ISO 9001-2008 certified manufacturer of plastic compounds, we're committed to continuous improvement and the significant investment we have made in our molding laboratory is consistent with that commitment" said Ron Taylor, CEO of the company.
