TP Composites has opened a wear & friction (Tribology) laboratory to support its growing presence in applications, where there is plastic on plastic sliding, rotating or oscillating motions. More data is needed to understand how to design applications with plastics containing performance lubricants.
Tribology is the study of the interaction of two surfaces in relative motion and includes factors such as coefficient of friction, wear rate, speed, temperature, humidity and applied load. There is a tremendous amount of tribologic data for plastic on metal wear, but little data is available for plastic on plastic wear for performance lubricated custom compounds.
Making a production process run faster, carry more load or operate in a harsh environment are customer needs we hear every day. Contact us today to tell us about your material issue and let us help solve your problem.
